Beach Access

Things to know when going to the La Conchita Beach

Beach Tips and Etiquette

Beach Entrance is through the pedestrian tunnel located in the front of La Conchita between Sunland and Santa Paula Avenue

The entrance is ADA Accessible with a long ramp and handrails.  The ramp can be slippery from water or sand, so use of the handrails is advised.  The tunnel at the bottom of the ramp is lit and extends under the 101 highway to a illuminated landing area that will continue to the beach or up to the bike path

It is important to remember that the LC Beach has no bathroom facilities unfortunately, so be prepared to hoof it home if you need to go.

The County has mandated that Dogs be kept on a leash within a 300′ width of the tunnel, but beyond this area, dogs can be unleashed.  Keep in mind that there are other dogs , small children and elders on the beach so mind your pup as you are responsible for any mayhem your best friend causes.  This includes cleaning up after your pup and keeping them off other peoples towels,  Don’t worry, there is plenty of room to enjoy!

Parking is tight but generally available.  Please do not block an emergency vehicle ability to maneuver the streets by parking your vehicle irresponsibly!

Pack Out what You Pack In and bring Sun Block

Please bring your Pick-a-Nic Baskets and toys, but do not leave anything behind.  There are garbage cans at the entrance of the tunnel for your debris, or carry it home if they are full and overflowing.  Be nice to your neighbors and they will be nice to you!

Lastly, there are many who fish, surf, boat/kayak and swim, sharing the same waves.  Please be aware of swimmers in the water and fish, surf or boat away from that area.  Keep an eye out for everyone and be kind to all

Injured or Abandoned Marine Animals

It is common that an injured or stranded marine animal ends up on our beach.  Please provide ample space around the animal and never attempt to move them without a properly trained rescuer with you.  Please see the following agencies trained to support this situation
